Our story
In the spring of 1975, Rick was studying at the University of Vienna. One day, he caught sight of a poster announcing a lecture by none other than Otto von Habsburg, President of the International Paneuropean Union and the last Crown Prince of Austria-Hungary. This would be a first, an opportunity to hear from the rightful heir to the Habsburg throne, a line of kings that could trace its beginnings to the first Habsburg, Rudoph I, in 1273, and even further, to Radbot of Klettbau in 1020. His 1000-year legacy in the making and leadership of the International Paneuropean Union would gave rise to modern Europe and the European Community. What a legacy! In Rick’s career the word “legacy” would come to mean more than he ever imagined.
It would be years before he would conceive of a way to assist estate owners in living their own legacy and leaving one of significance. In 1994 an auspicious meeting opened the door to the future. Rick had his first client, and would go on to found Legacy Resources, LLC. Since then, he has been assisting estate owners in charting their own course to the future. His process begins by assisting them in defining the destination or purpose for their wealth. Once clear, this purpose impacts the planning and the ultimate estate design for supporting an enduring family legacy.
Together, he and his clients reflect on the arc of their lives and the shaping forces that have become their personal story. The Legacy Conversation, one of his services, concludes with a Family Wealth Directive, which captures their story, purpose, and guiding principles. A Legacy Plan follows for executing on their vision and for achieving valued outcomes for themselves, family, and community. With a new plan in hand, the journey continues.

How we CAN help
Each of us is unique and either blessed or burdened with a past. You may need to start a new conversation in the family. Or, you may simply want to build on the firm foundation that is already in place. Some will schedule a series of family meetings or plan a weekend or Family University with guest speakers. Still, others may empanel a Family Board of Directors or endow a Board of Advisors to provide counsel to future generations. Investing in the next generation is a big topic. We bring best practices of those whose circumstances are similar to your own to the conversation.
